Abu Dhabi, UAE – As the UAE continues to assert itself as a global centre for artistic innovation, Lammah Al Bahr (LAB) Festival offers a vital platform for showcasing the country’s creative talent. ArtBooth Gallery is honoured to present Majlis of Memory at Art Haus, Al Dhafra, from 7th February to 25th May 2025, an exhibition celebrating the evolving discourse around Emirati identity through the work of Sarah Alagroobi and Noura Ramahi. Their practices are set in contrast to the structured precision of Steven Naifeh and the experimental sculptural techniques of James Matthews, positioning Emirati contemporary art within a broader global context.
Through emotionally charged compositions and material explorations, Alagroobi and Ramahi challenge conventional representations of Emirati identity. Alagroobi’s expressive, layered paintings reflect themes of cultural hybridity and self-representation, while Ramahi’s innovative mixed-media works reimagine the past through a tactile, deeply personal lens. Their work finds compelling counterpoints in Naifeh’s meticulous, mathematically driven interpretations of Islamic art and Matthews’ exploration of Ottoman-era perspective techniques.
