BAHRAM HAJOU (B.1952)

Bahram Hajou (born 1952 in Amuda, Syria) is a Syrian–Kurdish painter internationally recognized for his powerful figurative works exploring themes of identity, displacement, solitude, and human connection. Educated in Germany, where he graduated from the Kunstakademie Münster as a master student of Norbert Tadeusz, Hajou developed a distinctive visual language influenced by German Expressionism, characterized by layered surfaces, expressive lines, and psychologically charged compositions.

His works are held in prominent museum and public collections, including the Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art in Doha, the ArtHall Oldenburg in Germany, the corporate collection of Deutsche Bank, and the collection of Rashed Al Khalifa in Bahrain, among others. Through decades of exhibitions across Europe, the Middle East, and the United States, Hajou has established an international presence, continuing to live and work between Münster and New York while producing art that bridges cultures and reflects the emotional complexity of contemporary human experience.
